ABC News reported that for the first time, now the Fukushima plant has experienced “epic flooding” that has caused 100,000 homes to evacuate.

Fukushima: The End of Mankind?

“In the aftermath of the nuclear disaster at the Fukushima Daichi Nuclear Power Plant in Japan, it’s hard to fathom or describe the environmental damage to the Earth, because it eclipses all prior nuclear accidents by such a huge margin.

 In the four years now since the earthquake caused the breakage of critical reactor cooling apparatus and plumbing to the point where the plants were not able to sustain or maintain the nearly one million gallons per reactor per minute, needed to cool them, the continued exposure to the entire world has continued unabated, unchecked.

 Adequate cooling flow to prevent what is truly a “China Syndrome” was not possible even had the cooling system at Daichi survived the earthquake event.

At Daichi, where a reactor meltdown of no less than 3 operational reactors- which incidentally were fueled up with MOX fuel, a highly unstable form of nuclear fuel that not only mandates total cooling control, but ensures disastrous results if such cooling ‘fails’ as was the case in March of 2011 in Japan- we had a situation whereupon these 3 reactors were overheated beyond cooling within minutes.

Lindsey Williams – Warning to Prepare For An Emergency. Stock Up On Food, Water And Supplies Now!

Our current recession/depression is slow creeping at this point towards a bad outcome.  Although I believe US and Canada are still 3 to 5 years away from an economic collapse, I woefully believe that the collapse is coming.

Marijuana Kills Cancer Cells, Admits The U.S. National Cancer Institute

National legalization of marijuana may be drawing a smidgeon closer.

The National Cancer Institute (NCI), one of the federal government sponsored agencies, has just updated the FAQs on its website to include recent studies on marijuana showing that it can and has killed cancer cells.

These are the findings of studies NCI have included:

Cannabinoids may inhibit tumor growth by causing cell death, blocking cell growth, and blocking the development of blood vessels needed by tumors to grow.

 Laboratory and animal studies have shown that cannabinoids may be able to kill cancer cells while protecting normal cells.

Cannabinoids may protect against inflammation of the colon and may have potential in reducing the risk of colon cancer, and possibly in its treatment.

Bottling And Storing Your Own Water

According to the CDC any water that is not commercially bottled should be discarded after six months (CDC, 2014).

“Commercially Bottled Water”, according to the FDA, “is considered to have an indefinite safety shelf life if it is produced in accordance with CGMP and quality standard regulations and is stored in an unopened, properly sealed container”.

The FDA does not require an expiration date for bottled water.

However, long-term storage of bottled water may result in aesthetic defects, such as off-odor and taste.

 Bottlers may voluntarily put expiration dates on their labels, and most do place an expiration date on the containers (FDA, 2014).

Obviously, commercially bottled water, if you believe in the process, makes the most sense when it comes to long-term storage of water.

Pediatricians Target GMO Farms As Cause Of Increased Birth Defects

Birth defects are on the rise in Hawaii, leaving many to wonder if pesticides are to blame – including some pediatricians who are witnessing a spike in birth defects in babies.

In the town of Waimea, pediatrician Carla Nelson has seen at least 9 severe heart malformations in babies in the last five years, 10 times more than the national average.

For the past three years, Nelson and other local doctors have found themselves at the center of a controversy over whether a cash crop of GM corn modified to withstand pesticides on four of the six main islands is the cause of an economic boom, or the source of the birth defects and illnesses.

Hawaiians have attempted four times to rein in GMO manufacturers over the past two years, to no avail. On August 9, 10,000 people marched through Honolulu’s Waikiki tourist district, some of them holdings signs reading, “We Deserve the Right to Know: Stop Poisoning Paradise” and “Save Hawaii – Stop GMOs.”

For months we have been warning that “Vegas is screwed” as water levels continue to plunge in its most crucial reservoirs.

The Economy: “China’s Is The First Central Bank To Lose Control… It Won’t Be The Last”

“All of the so called, “economic recovery” that began in 2009 has been based on the Central Banks’ abilities to rein in the collapse. The first round of interventions (2007-early 2009) was performed in the name of saving the system.

The second round (2010-2012) was done because it was generally believed that the first round hadn’t completed the task of getting the world back to recovery.

However, from 2012 onward, everything changed. At that point the Central Banks went “all in” on the Keynesian lunacy that they’d been employing since 2008.

We no longer had QE plans with definitive deadlines. Instead phrases like “open-ended” and doing “whatever it takes” began to emanate from Central Bankers’ mouths.

We Have Already Witnessed The First 1300 Points Of The Stock Market Crash Of 2015

What has been happening on Wall Street the past few days has been nothing short of stunning.  On Thursday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average plummeted 358 points.  It was the largest single day decline in a year and a half, and investors are starting to panic.  

Overall, the Dow is now down more than 1300 points from the peak of the market.  Just yesterday, I wrote about all of the experts that are warning about a stock market crash in 2015, and after today I am sure that a lot more people will start jumping on the bandwagon.  In particular, tech stocks are getting absolutely hammered lately.  

The Nasdaq has fallen close to 3.5% over the past two days alone, and it has dropped below its 200-day moving average.  The Russell 2000 (a small-cap stock market index) is also now trading below its 200-day moving average.  What all of this means is that the stock market crash of 2015 has already begun.  The only question left to answer at this point is how bad it will ultimately turn out to be.

When stocks were booming, tech stocks were leading the way up.

But now that the market has turned, tech stocks are starting to lead the way down…

Column In Medical Journal Says Hazards Of GMOs, Pesticides Not Properly Studied

A column published Wednesday in the New England Journal of Medicine calls for a new review of herbicides, saying U.S. regulators have been relying on flawed and outdated research.

The authors of the opinion piece are Dr. Philip Landrigan, a Harvard-educated pediatrician and epidemiologist who is Dean for Global Health at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, and Chuck Benbrook, an adjunct professor at Washington State University’s crops and soil science department.

Landrigan and Benbrook wrote that there are two key factors that necessitate regulatory action to protect human health: a spike in herbicide applied to widely-planted genetically modified (GMO) crops used in food, and the World Health Organization’s (WHO) recent classification of the most commonly used herbicide, known as glyphosate (Roundup), as a probable human carcinogen.

“There is growing evidence that glyphosate is geno-toxic and has adverse effects on cells in a number of different ways,” Benbrook said. “It’s time to pull back … on uses of glyphosate that we know are leading to significant human exposures while the science gets sorted out.”

Iran Goes Nuclear, Deal Reached (Videos)

 An unnamed senior diplomat says that a landmark deal has been reached between the P5+1 countries and Iran that will relax sanctions and monitor Iranian nuclear development.

 International diplomats and Iranian diplomats are expected to make the announcement of the deal later this morning in Vienna.

The deal supposedly entails relaxation of the international sanctions in trade for the United Nations.

The IEAE inspectors will be able to “press” for inspections of Iranian facilities. 

Reports also state that access to sites for inspection can be delayed or possibly denied at Iranian discretion leading many to believe the delays will allow the terror-supporting nation to hide evidence of nuclear weapons research.

WW2 Air Raid Shelter Opens As London's First Underground Farm (Video)

In an unexpected advancement in agriculture, London is to become the first city to house an underground farm in what was once a WW2 Air Raid shelter.

This innovative idea was proposed as the brainchild of West Country entrepreneurs Richard Ballard and Steven Dring, in partnership with Michel Roux Jr, the Michelin-starred chef.

Growing Underground, the capital’s only subterranean farm, will start trading to restaurateurs in Covent Garden within weeks.

New App Is Helping Feed Hundreds Of Thousands Of Homeless People

When UC Berkeley student Komal Ahmad invited a homeless man to lunch three years ago, she was inspired to create an app that would change the lives of hundreds of thousands living on the streets.

When the man asked her for money for food, she took him to lunch instead and learned of his time as a soldier in Iraq.

“He’d already gone on two deployments and now he’s come back, he’s 26 and on the side of the road begging for food,” Ahmad said. “It just blew my mind.”

Shortly after her experience, she began an initiative at Berkeley to donate uneaten food from the university’s dining halls to local homeless shelters.

The program was so successful that in three years, it has spread to over 140 colleges around the country.

Breaking: America’s 51st State Goes Broke…

This week the Puerto Rico government declared its intent to default on “all or most” of its $72 billion dollar debt.

Puerto Rico Governor,  Alejandro García Padilla, a longtime avid supporter of President Barack Obama, called the island nation’s financial crisis a matter basic math.

In addition to his role as governor of Puerto Rico, Padilla is also a prominent member of  the American Democratic Party.

Puerto Rico’s current crisis has been some time in the making. For decades the island nations embarked on a progressive model of “spend now and pay later” form of government.

As the size of the Puerto Rico government inevitably expanded, its private sector contracted and so too did the tax base necessary to pay for all of the nation’s exorbitant public sector spending. And as its debt rate increased, so too did its poverty and crime rates.

A new mobile Ebola test can detect the virus using a single drop of blood and reports a positive or negative result in under 15 minutes.

When the ReEBOV test was applied in the field, it identified 100 percent of all infected patients who also got positive results with the lab test.

The Fluoride Deception Continues As US Gov Ignores Fluoride’s Role As An Endocrine Disruptor

In 2012 more than 67 percent of Americans received fluoridated water, and of those, more than 11 million people were getting fluoride at or above the “optimal” level of 0.7-1.2 milligrams per liter (mg/L), according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Then, in April this year, the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced that this “optimal” level of fluoride, recommended since 1962, had in fact been set too high, resulting in 40 percent of American teens showing signs of overexposure[2]-a condition known as dental fluorosis.

So, for the first time in nearly 55 years, the US government lowered its recommended level of fluoride in drinking water to a maximum of 0.7 mg/L.

The question is, will this new level protect everyone from overexposure?

I have never done anything like this before. 

Ever since I started The Economic Collapse Blog in late 2009, I have never issued any kind of “red alert” for any specific period of time.  As an attorney, I was trained to be level-headed and to only come to conclusions that were warranted by the evidence. 

So this is not something that I am doing lightly. 

Based on information that I have received, things that I have been told, and thousands of hours of research that have gone into the publication of more than 1,300 articles about our ongoing economic collapse, I have come to the conclusion that a major financial collapse is imminent.  Therefore, I am issuing a RED ALERT for the last six months of 2015.

To clarify, when I say “imminent” I do not mean that it will happen within the next 48 hours.  And I am not saying that our problems will be “over” once we get to the end of 2015.  In fact, I believe that the truth is that our problems will only be just beginning as we enter 2016.

What I am attempting to communicate is that we are right at the door of a major turning point.  About this time of the year back in 2008, my wife and I went to visit her parents.  As we sat in their living room, I explained to them that we were on the verge of a major financial crisis, and of course the events that happened a few months later showed that I was right on the money.

Tiger Woods in his prime wasn’t close to being invincible. He was invincible.

From the time Tiger Woods burst onto the golf scene by dominating the 1997 Masters until he won the 2008 U.S. Open on a broken leg, he played golf at a level that we may never see from anyone again.

I had a front-row seat to that 2008 U.S. Open victory.

 I was underneath the grandstand, peering through legs trying to get a look at Tiger on Sunday as he nailed yet another epic clutch putt to force a playoff that he would ultimately win.

The crowd reaction was so loud I thought that the grandstand was coming down on top of me.

If you had told me on that Sunday that the 2008 U.S. Open would be the last major Tiger would win, I would have laughed at you.

Now, with his game in complete disarray and a body that is constantly broken, I think that it probably was his last hurrah.

Tiger Woods in 2008 reminds me of the U.S. dollar today…

Leaked (Denied Then Confirmed): ECB Not Sure If Greek Banks Can Open Monday

There seems to be a growing willingness in the Eurozone to get this over with, to let Greece default and go from there – with all the options that this might entail. But even if a last-minute bailout agreement materializes, one thing stands out in this sea of chaotic uncertainty: Greek banks are toast.

The top four – National Bank of Greece, Piraeus Bank, Alpha Bank, and Eurobank Ergasias – account for 91% of Greek banking assets. They’ve already been bailed out twice. Their shares are penny stocks. They have two toxic problems: liquidity and solvency. Either one can topple them.

Liquidity is a problem because the Greeks have zero trust in their banks and have been yanking their euros out with increasing desperation. They won’t ever forget what happened to depositors in Cyprus.

Deposits have plunged about 20% since November, to €130 billion.

According to Reuters, “banking sources” said that just during the first three days of this week, Greeks have pulled €2 billion from their accounts – about €667 million a day, compared to prior weeks when they’d withdrawn €200 to €300 million a day.

45 Times Hillary Clinton Publicly Supported TPP, Which She Now 'Opposes'

“I’ve known Hillary Clinton for 25 years and I have a lot of respect for her,” Sanders said, but emphasized the differences between the two presidential hopefuls on several issues, including the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

The so-called TPP will lower barriers, raise standards, and drive long-term growth across the region. It will cover 40 percent of the world’s total trade and establish strong protections for workers and the environment.

Better jobs with higher wages and safer working conditions, including for women, migrant workers and others too often in the past excluded from the formal economy will help build Asia’s middle class and rebalance the global economy.

Goldman Sachs Warns “Too Much Debt” Threatens World Economy

The debt burden – particularly in “developed” countries – along with ageing populations pose a risk to the economies of those countries, Goldman Sachs has warned.

Andrew Wilson, Goldman Sachs Asset Management’s chief executive in Europe said, “There is too much debt and this represents a risk to economies.

Consequently, there is a clear need to generate growth to work that debt off but, as demographics change, new ways of thinking at a policy level are required to do this.”

Japan, as an example of a major economy, now has a government debt-to-GDP ratio of over 200%, which Wilson says is “not sustainable over the long term.” Other countries with very high debt loads include the U.S., most of Europe and Brazil.

Among those countries on the other end of the scale are Russia, other central Asian countries and most of the Gulf states demonstrating the latent and as yet widely unacknowledged strength of the emerging Eurasian Economic Union and its ties to the Chinese New Silk Road project.
