The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the holy grail of horror movies. The original, released in 1974, is still scary today because it seems so real. The movie was about mentally ill, inbred Texans in the meat industry who like to catch people and terrorize them before slaughtering them like cattle.

Her terror felt real. (Scott Merson)

The image burned into my mind twenty years ago when I first saw it, is a hysterical Marilyn Burns covered in blood, laughing hysterically in the back of a pickup, while Leatherface dances  his chainsaw in the street with maniacal ecstasy.

Some friends and I got a chainsaw in college, and we all preformed the chainsaw dance in the street (and later kicked in a friends door and made him scream. So to celebrate Ms. Burns escape from this world to a better place, please enjoy the heroine’s three minute daring escape from the man-creature that killed all her friends.

Good bye Marilyn, safe travels.
